Research Participants Needed

Research Participants Needed

A case study investigating the lived experience of men who were abused in coercively controlling cultic environments

The purpose of this study is to deepen understanding of the experiences of men who have been abused in a coercively controlling cult environment given that much of the current research has focused on the experiences of women. This study may lead to criteria for services that may be used to help male victims of cultic groups and other abusive experiences including sexual assault. It may further have broader implications for understanding and preventing the exploitation of male survivors of coercive control in trafficking, gangs, and domestic relationships.

Criteria to participate in this study:

• Male
• 18 years or older
• Participants must have spent time in a cult and experienced abuse within that environment.
• Participants must have been out of the cult for a minimum of six months.

Participants will be asked to do the following:

• Fill out a demographic questionnaire.
• Participate in a 60–90-minute online interview regarding their experiences during their time in the cult.
