Study on Psychological Well-being of Former Group Members

Study on Psychological Well-being of Former Group Members

Overview of the Study and Participant Groups

• The University of Salford announced in May 2024 that a large-scale study exploring the psychological health and well-being of self-declared former members of cultic and non-cultic groups has been launched.

• This is an important study that has two groups:

• one of former members of a cultic group - this part of the research is now closed as we have collected a large sample; thank you so much if you took part.

• secondly, a control group made up of people who are members of other kinds of groups such as mainstream churches, sports groups, music groups, amateur dramatics, Freemasons, workplace groups, and so on.

Urgent Call for Control Group Participation

• We now urgently need this control group.

• Please consider taking part.

• A control group enables us to make comparisons with the former members of cultic groups sample, so it is very important.

• It is vital to our work.

Public Awareness and Research Context

• Coercive control is now very much in the public domain, with various governments setting up Royal Commissions and/or investigations into the activities of cultic groups.

• So this is timely research.

Survey Access and Information

• The survey takes between 15 and 30 minutes to complete - the actual time depends to some extent on your answers.
