Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr of the Beatles, Moby, Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, (former) Quote 500-men Paul Gelder Loos, Hans van Veggel and Richard Homburg, they are all followers of the late Limburg guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the Transcendental Meditation (TM). Some followers have their own TM neighborhood built in Lelystad, and the foundation that manages wish to be regarded as charity. But tax authorities and courts have stopped.

The Maharishi operated from the Limburg Vlodorp until it via the Ganges into eternity floated in 2008. He knew himself to be from Limburg almost as many stars as bind the Church of Scientology; excluding these celebrities as David Lynch, Donovan, Jerry Seinfeld, Howard Stern, Laura Dern, Ben Harper and Sheryl Crow. Together with them, and about six million followers prayed the Maharishi for world peace.

Some followers have a foundation that has built an entire neighborhood in Lelystad, via TM to achieve lasting peace from there. Set Participants rent or buy a home from the foundation, and in addition pay a monthly fee. The foundation maintains with applying an elementary school, an organic shop and a vegetarian restaurant.

The foundation asked a so Anbi status (public benefit organization). Clubs with such status to pay less tax and gifts to a Anbi are tax deductible. The tax authorities saw the storm (t) already hanging, soon is half Lelystad meditate and no one pays more to The Hague. The tax authorities refused the status.

The TM'ers appealed against that decision before, but trading houses and organic food is according to the District Court Northern Netherlands still just a consumer issue, not a public benefit activity. Tax must be paid just also about achieving world peace. Cynical though.
