A Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the London School of Economics and an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, she has served on more academic and non-profit boards than can be counted. In 1988, she founded INFORM: The Information Network On Religious Movements, which seeks to educate people on cults and new religious movements.
