Vipassana, the meditation technique originally developed by the Buddha 2,500 years ago, has traditionally only been taught within specially designated mediation centers.

YogiLab, a start-up offering the world's first 10-day Vipassana Meditation Retreat, was shocked to discover that two very prominent spiritual organizations were threatening to sue for offering the ancient meditation for free.

Vipassana, the meditation technique originally developed by the Buddha 2,500 years ago, has traditionally only been taught within specially designated mediation centers.

The Bali based start-up has the goal of providing these ancient meditation teachings for free and then enabling those participants to start their own groups and centers.

Since YogiLab's release earlier this year, over 135,000 people have joined the free course, with around 18,000 participants a month from 100+ different countries.

"After 21 years of spiritual study and multiple successful companies, there is only one thing I want to spend my time doing and that's teaching Vipassana meditation. Without it, I would have nothing. This is a secret the world deserves to know. -David Hans-Barker, Founder

Shortly after the course launched, YogiLab received legal letters from Dhamma.org and Maharishi Foundation threatening to sue if YogiLab continued to spread meditation for free, mentioning the facts that involve their names.

"As part of our launch, we created The Maharishi Day to unite as many meditators as possible. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's research proved that having just 1% of a population meditating can produce a measurable drop in violence and crime rates. So we were surprised that they would come after us." -David

Despite the looming legal push back, YogiLab is still moving forward with offering the Vipassana course through their platform and the collective goal of providing free meditation training to people around the globe.

How does it work?

YogiLab has developed a powerful meditation platform that can change lives—and ultimately the planet. Those who want to participate in this global experiment and movement can sign up for the Vipassana retreat to learn the technique as well as instruction for building a meditation group and center.

The overall goal of YogiLab is to spread the teachings and empower people to start their own meditation gatherings as well. The more people they can get meditating, the greater the positive ripple effect will be across the world.
