A South Texas spread that’s just hit the market features a sprawling Spanish-style home and a history as a show horse ranch.

The more than 3,000-acre Crawford Ranch in Dimmit County is near the town of Carrizo Springs.

Priced at $13.5 million, the ranch sits on the Nueces River about two hours from San Antonio. It’s north of Laredo and not far from the border with Mexico.

The more than 6,000-square-foot centerpiece hacienda has three bedrooms and five baths and a huge outdoor living area with a swimming pool, water fountains and terraces.

“The property is rounded off with a manager’s home, office, two guest houses and multiple barns and pens,” property agent Hall and Hall says in its pitch for the sale. “The property has the components for a true South Texas legacy; many generations to come will forever speak of the grandeur and times spent on the Crawford Ranch.”

Over the years, the ranch has hosted dignitaries, celebrities and politicians from around the world, according to the brokers.

The ranch house and buildings were said to cost more than $30 million when they were built in the early 1980s.

And for a time, the Crawford Ranch was owned by a company that represented the Rev. Sun Myung Moon of the Unification Church, according to press reports. Moon used it as a family retreat.
