Charges against Varma a conspiracy: Maharishi management

BHOPAL: Maharishi Vidya Mandir management has rubbished rape charges leveled by former a teacher on the chairman of Maharishi Vidya Mandir schools group, Girish Chandra Varma, and termed it as a conspiracy against him.

Stating that the stated that the issue began only after Varma refused to pay money demanded by complainant's husband, director communication and publication, Maharishi Vidya Mandir schools group V R Khare stated that complainant's husband never had any problem with the ashram during his 27-year-long association.

Khare said, that the complainant's husband had demanded money from Varma to buy a house in 2011 but when he did not get the money and was removed from the job in 2012, he started maligning Varma.

Varma has been locked in Bhopal Central jail after a rape case was registered against him on December 29. The middle-aged 'brahmachari' is unwell in jail and has been kept under observation by doctors. Jail officials said he is diabetic and his blood pressure is also not normal.

His bail application has already been rejected by the district court and experts say that now he can get relief only from high court.

Meanwhile, the police have also started investigating the counter complaints made by Varma against the woman and her husband on different occasions.
