MANILA - A female follower of Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Apollo Quiboloy tried to smuggle to the Philippines more than $300,000 in cash hidden in socks, United States court documents showed.
Felina Salinas, a US citizen, failed to declare that she was carrying thousands of dollars "neatly bundled" in $100 bills in black socks during a flight en route to the Philippines, said a complaint filed by Ann Mylene Haney, a special agent of the US Department of Homeland Security.
Salinas was on board Quiboloy's private plane that was supposed to return to Manila on Feb. 13 before federal agents seized the cash.
She is said to be the business manager at the Waipahu church location and a loyal Quiboloy supporter.
In a 2015 interview posted on Youtube, Salinas described Quiboloy as "anointed" by God.
"He was appointed and he was anointed by the Almighty Father to preach the gospel to the whole world," Salinas said.
According to the complaint filed on Feb. 13, Salinas only declared that she was carrying $25,000 and P1,000 in cash.
But when federal agents inspected the plane, they found $335,000 and AUD $9,000 in cash hidden in socks inside a black bag.
US law requires individuals to declare the cash they are taking out of the country if it exceeds $10,000.
Salinas later claimed that the black bag was hers and was later charged with attempted bulk cash smuggling.
"None of that money was reported by Ms. Salinas to the CBPO (Customs and Border Protection Office)," the complaint read.
The complaint, however, made no mention of Pastor Quiboloy, who was earlier reported to have been briefly detained at the Honolulu airport over the incident.
There was also no mention of gun parts earlier reported to have been found on the plane.
