Cult Girls

"Cult Girls, based on a true story, tells the story of Talia and her friends as they struggle with growing suspicions that their faith is a patriarchal religious cult. It's a story of tremendous courage and female empowerment as Talia as her friends successfully free themselves told through a feminist lens with cautionary humor.

"All I can say is this is a one of a kind piece of work of a beautiful, inspiring and comedic story of the most relatable humor and silly scenarios of being in the Jehovah’s Witness faith. It had so many relatable characters and situations. Rosa’s story was my favorite. It showed what it’s like to have converted parents, to what’s it like being engaged and married to an elder, not being able to have sex before marriage. The ridiculous elder men who ran unfair judicial scenes were so accurate and sadly true. But following Talia and her friends' story is also like a guide book to riding this crazy journey out of this weird apocalypse, men favored, restricting women's education style religion. We all know the real reality’s of how JWs unreported child sexual abuse and how there is a low regard for the high suicide risk for disfellowshipped people. This book should be read by those fading or leaving a cult, to see that you can heal from the past, there is light at the end of tunnel and when it’s all said and done you can chuckle about some of the weirdness you experienced growing up or being married in it. Beautiful book!"
