Manufacturing Mania: The Dopamine Hypothesis of Religious Experience is a book by Dr. John Alexander Hunter.
" ... In Manufacturing Mania, John Hunter brings this evidence together in an accessible way, explaining that states typically associated with certain mental disorders are often interpreted as religious experiences, that similar states can be induced in healthy people by manipulating brain chemistry, that a natural process can manipulate brain chemistry in the way described, and that Christianity, whether intentionally or not, makes use of this process. The result is a compelling argument that what many perceive as religious experiences may simply be abnormal brain states that occur with the right priming and in the right context."

"SA Health says it will "no longer" partner with an organisation that is run by members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church following questions by the ABC.

Former members have spoken to the ABC about the church's rules, views on women and position on university attendance, describing it as a "cult".
The claim has been denied by the church with a spokesperson saying it was a global Christian fellowship that "lives peacefully amongst neighbours all over the world".

The group received more than $450,000 from taxpayers in the last reporting period.

A spokesperson for RRT said it had completed half a dozen events with SA Health since 2020 with one more scheduled at the time of questioning.

However, when asked about the partnership an SA Health spokesperson said, "it would not be partnering with the organisation".

It did partner with the group weeks later at an event at the hospital in Mount Barker.

Church members run a charity called the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) which supports emergency service workers."
"SÃO PAULO – Brazilian-born Monsignor João Scognamiglio Clá Dias, founder of the traditionalist Catholic group "Heralds of the Gospel," died Nov. 1 at 85, struggling with the consequences of a stroke that occurred 14 years ago.

In less than 30 years, the controversial leader built a lay and clerical society present in over 70 countries and has schools and education centers all over the world.

While he was seen by his followers as the key figure in a future process of Catholic restoration of a world degraded by secularism and moral decay, critics accused him of being a narcissistic wannabe-dictator who created a personal cult around himself.

What seems undeniable is that Clá Dias managed to use his charismatic personality, his vast cultural formation, and his obstinacy to transform a largely defunct civic organization – the Brazilian Society in Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP) – into a massive group operating under the Vatican's blessing."

" ... TFP initially gathered members of the traditional elites such as de Oliveira, who dreamed of restoring monarchy in the country (which had been abolished in 1889) and of expanding the Church's political power. The group gradually managed to attract middle-class and (white) working-class youth, such as Clá Dias.

De Oliveira felt Catholicism had reached its peak during the feudal era, and regarded the erosion of feudalism as part of an historical trend guided by anti-Catholic revolutionary forces that would continue to operate till barbarism reigned.

Freemasons, communists and hippies would prepare the way for revolution, which he once defined as the 'second original sin'. That was the motivation, de Oliveira felt, to struggle against communism and the New Left infiltration in institutions, in education, and in the Church.

TFP would become notorious for its criticism of progressive clergy and Liberation Theology, at times directly targeting bishops and even the pontiff. It supported the Tridentine Mass and repudiated the Second Vatican Council.

Clá Dias proved fundamental in TFP's expansion over the decades, helping to implement a donation-collection system and to shape the religious dimension of the group, which tended to have a more political public presence."

Times of Israel: NY ultra-Orthodox school found with 'hundreds of students inside' amid lockdown

Orange County orders closure of site in village of Kiryas Joel over lack of personal protective equipment, social distancing in violation of governor's orders
"A school in the ultra-Orthodox village of Kiryas Joel in New York state was ordered to close on Thursday after it was found operating with hundreds of students inside in an apparent violation of virus lockdown restrictions.
Orange County said in a statement that officials visiting the school "found what appeared to be hundreds of students inside, not wearing personal protective equipment, not social distancing, and plainly in violation of the Governor's Executive Orders," the Times Herald-Record reported. The county health department issued a case-and-desist order to the school the following day.
Kiryas Joel residents are primarily members of the Satmar hasidic sect. The village is around 60 miles north of New York City."

East Idaho News: Part 1: Melanie Gibb describes Chad and Lori Daybells' religious beliefs and her relationship with the couple
" ... Latter-day Saints believe relationships continue after death for a husband and wife who are sealed in the temple. Sealings are performed by officiators in the temple and are recorded in church records. People cannot be sealed to a second spouse if they are legally married to a living person already.
"(Lori said) they felt they were sealed by those on the other side of the veil that had the authority to do that," Gibb says. "She said it was OK they did this because they had been married so many times before, that their (current) spouses would understand someday."

Other teachings alarmed Gibb, such as Chad creating a spiritual "portal" in Lori's closet or other places.

"A portal is a spot where he said a prayer or something to create the portal. I wasn't there, so I don't know. … (But) it was a way for them to interact spiritually," Gibb says. "I thought it was different. I thought, 'How do you do that?' … It was pretty extreme, but to me, everything was new."

Gibb says Chad had an extensive chart that ranked people based on their spiritual level. It showed Biblical apostles, the current Latter-day Saint 12 apostles, celebrities, friends and family members. It was four pages, and Gibb says it detailed how many lives each of the people have lived, whether they were "dark" or "light" spirits, their previous names, and other bizarre information.

Lori had experienced 21 lives, and Chad was on his 31st life, according to the chart. Both had lived five lives on this earth, and Chad was considered a Holy Ghost.
She said she always had a "little bit of doubt" about what Chad was saying and Lori did too.

"Two to three times, (Lori) said to me, 'If Chad is Satan, he sure is a good one,'" Gibb says. "That tends to lead me to believe she wasn't 100% convinced either."
Chad and Lori only seemed to share these extreme beliefs with those who were close to them. Looking back now, Gibb believes they kept it private so their church membership would not be put in jeopardy.

"When you go in the temple, there are certain questions they ask you to see if your belief systems are consistent with the doctrine," Gibb says. "They were inconsistent, so that's the reason they're going to be secretive about it."

She said their doctrine was not affiliated with any Christianity she knew of."

A woman claiming to be the best friend of Lori Vallow has come forward with explosive claims about her latest husband, Chad Daybell's "dangerous teachings", saying the doomsday author's doctrines "lead to people dying".

Speaking for the first time about the disappearance of Lori Vallow's two children, friend Melanie Gibb has revealed new details about the so-called "cult mom" whose kids haven't been seen since September.

As reported by The Sun, Melanie Gibb has only just emerged after spending five months "in hiding" after an unsealed arrest warrant alleged that Lori Vallow had asked her friend to lie about the whereabouts of her kids.

Lori Vallow, 46, is currently behind bars on charges of child neglect and desertion in connection with the disappearance of her biological daughter, 17-year-old Tylee Ryan, and her adopted son, eight-year-old son Joshua 'JJ' Vallow. She was arrested back in February and is currently being held in jail on $1million bond, an amount she has unsuccessfully attempted to reduce twice.

"KNEWZ: 'Cult mom' Lori Vallow's best friend claims her husband's 'dangerous teachings lead to people dying,' as missing son JJ turns 8
"According to her best friend, the jailed mother-of-two became increasingly intrigued with the practices of Chad Daybell — an author who writes on religious end-of-times themes — and Lori Vallow even began to believe that her son JJ was "a zombie" and that "everyone in her life was turning into zombies."

Vallow's best friend also claimed that she "believed her missing son was a zombie and kept quiet about her ex's death for days."Melanie Gibb is speaking out for the first time after spending five months "in hiding" after an unsealed arrest warrant alleged that Vallow had asked her to lie about her children's whereabouts."
