(WPDE) — South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has issued a stark warning to parents about a disturbing trend targeting children and teens in the state. Wilson urged parents to be vigilant, as many are unaware of the exploitation occurring among their children.

“We want parentsespecially parents we want to be aware of this because a lot of the children that are being exploited and the children doing the exploitingparents are unaware of it,” said Wilson.

The alarming trend, known as the 764 Movement, originated from an area code in Texas and has roots in various neo-Nazi and satanic cults. Wilson described it as “very disturbing.”

The movement involves teens coercing other teens and children as young as 8 years old to harm themselves on camera, sometimes leading to suicide.

“The types of things that they’re filming are kids cutting themselves doing blood signs, kids engaging in extra bestiality, kids, and and and other types of self-harm and self-abuse,” Wilson said. “Also, they engage in sextortion and if that even rises to the level of getting the kids to commit suicide on recording so that people can watch it for the entertainment if this is a disgusting despicable movement.”

Wilson recently met with the FBI to discuss the movement and shared disturbing footage he had seen.

“I saw videos of young women taking razor blades, their arms to their tongue to there in other parts of their body we saw videos and photos of people killing animals and choking out animals and throwing cats against the wall and doing all kinds of animals, engaging in animal abuse,” he said.

To combat this issue, Senate Bill 74, which aims to strengthen administrative subpoena powers to protect children, is expected to be discussed in the House on Wednesday.

Wilson emphasized that existing state and federal laws are in place to address such crimes, with the FBI heavily involved in investigations.

Wilson is partnering with South Carolina’s Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver to alert schools about the crisis. They have issued a public safety alert and outlined action items for parents and educators.

Warning signs in children include mood disorders, isolation, and wearing long sleeves in hot weather.

Parents who suspect their child is affected are urged to contact the Attorney General’s Office or the FBI immediately at 1-800-225-5324.
