An Aspiring Rapper Claimed He Was a Prophet on Social Media. Then People Started Going Missing
Rashad Jamal’s University of Cosmic Intelligence racked up thousands of followers, some of whom eventually disappeared.
Rashad Jamal, an aspiring rapper and self-proclaimed prophet, amassed tens of thousands of followers online through his "University of Cosmic Intelligence." Preaching a blend of New Age spirituality, anti-government ideologies, and extreme conspiracy theories, Jamal convinced his followers that they were divine beings. However, his online cult soon took a dark turn when several devout followers suddenly vanished.
Families of the missing individuals reported drastic behavioral changes in their loved ones after they consumed Jamal's teachings, leading them to sever all ties and disappear. The group's dangerous influence escalated further when some followers were implicated in bizarre and violent crimes, including a fatal robbery in an Alabama national forest and a deadly sword attack.
While desperate families continue searching for the missing, Jamal was recently convicted and sentenced to prison in Georgia on unrelated child molestation charges, leaving behind a trail of devastated families seeking answers.
