THREE suspected members of an Islamist sect are in police net in Osun State for allegedly killing a two-year-old boy, Teslim Bakare, in Iragbiji, headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area of the state.
City Today gathered that the sect members, led by one Aremu, had been operating in a mosque in Oke Mori Area of the town but reside in another part of the town.
The suspects, Ganiyu, Danku and Aremu allegedly abducted the victim at Agbelekale compound and killed him after cutting his throat.
It was also learnt that the suspects cut off their victim’s head and collected his blood in a bucket.
Although the suspects were not caught in the act, nemesis caught up with them when a man (name withheld) unknown to them, recorded the gory scenes with his mobile phone and handed the recordings to some persons, who later handed it to the police.
Speaking to newsmen on phone, a resident of Otapete area of the town where the leader of the sect lives, explained: “No one knew who recorded the scene of the incident, but people have been suspecting them around here. Not long ago, Aremu, their leader, was expelled by the group and he subsequently established his own sect and has been leading them since then.”
A reliable security source said the suspects had confessed to the crime at the state command Criminal Investigation Department, Osogbo.
