Three suspected members of an Islamic sect have been arrested by Osun State police command for allegedly killing a two-year-old boy, Teslim Bakare, in Iragbiji, headquarters of Boripe local government area of the state.

According to sources, the sect members, led by one Moshood Aremu, had been operating a mosque around Oke Mori area of Iragbiji and resided in another part of the town.

The suspects, Tajudeen Ganiyu of Aropoko compound, and one Wasiu Danku led by Aremu, reportedly abducted the victim at Agbelekale Compound of Iragbiji, and killed him by slicing his throat.

It was further learnt the suspects removed the deceased’s head and collected his blood into a bucket.

Though the suspects were not caught in the act, but luck ran out on them when someone successfully recorded the scenes with mobile phone and handed the recordings to some people.

In a chat with newsmen on phone, a resident of Otapete Area, where leader of the sect lives, who preferred anonymity, said: “No one knew who recorded them but people have been suspecting them around here.

“Not long ago, Moshood Aremu, their leader was expelled by the teblique and he subsequently established his own sect and has been leading them since.”

A reliable security source said the suspects had confessed to the crime at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Osogbo, where they are being held.
